Universal Design
Over the last several years, Compass Design Build has become St. Louis’ leading expert home builder utilizing Universal Design and Aging in Place principles and design concepts. The Gary Sinise Foundation selected Compass Design Build to build 3 specially adapted smart homes for quadriplegic, multiple amputee and paralyzed individuals. Under the Gary Sinise Foundation, Compass also remodeled a fourth home for a local St. Louis first responder Hero.
As the only home builder/remodeler currently advising the Inclusive Design Alliance (IDA), Pete Uetrecht is leading the St. Louis region in partnership with key disability advocates such as Colleen Starkloff, executive director of the Starkloff Disability Institute, and other local occupational therapists in empowering St. Louis to embrace inclusive design that promotes the health and wellness of family and friends.
In addition to focusing their design talents on Universal Design, both Pete and Jennifer earned their CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) designation through the National Association of Home Builders.
While focusing on elegance in design, beauty and functionality, Compass Design Build is utilizing their unique knowledge in designing all the homes they build.
